Otila Galindo Gonzales, age 92, of Abilene, died Monday, June 21, 2021, at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene.
Recital of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 East College Avenue, in Coleman with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
Otila was born May 25, 1929, in Coleman to Felix Galindo and Luz Dela Rosa Galindo. She grew up in Coleman where she attended school. Otila married John O. Gonzales on November 29, 1947, in Coleman at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, making a wonderful home for her children and family. At a young age, Otila loved to go dancing, her favorite being the jitterbug. She absolutely loved taking her children and grandchildren on a vacation every year. Otila also enjoyed watching western movies and reading. She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Cursillistas. Otila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Jim Galindo Gonzales of Denton; her grandchildren, Jeff Marentes, Jamie Gonzales Mann, Joshua Ryan Gonzales, and Kari Lynn Marentes; her great-grandchildren, Joe Anthony Marentes, Mariah Marentes, Macie Lynn Mann, Carson Mann, Finley Grace Gonzales, Easton Lawrence Gonzales, and Leysia Sue Martinez; and her sister, Sarah Cortez of Haskell.
