Shirley Yvonne Fletcher, 83, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, June 7, 2021 at Heartland Funeral Home and a Graveside service will be Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, May, Texas.
Shirley was born August 8, 1937 in Brownwood to Andrew and Corine Elliott. She attended Brownwood school and married Robert Fletcher in May of 1955. Shirley and Robert were blessed with two children and they spent a lot of time on lake Proctor fishing, water skiing and camping. Shirley was a strong willed, caring and loving woman. She had a huge loving heart and always helped people who were down on their luck, she opened her home without judgement and tried to guide them towards a better life. Shirley loved going to Las Vegas to gamble and see the sights along the way. She loved antiques and spent most of her days in retirement finding things to buy or selling the things she had found. She was passionate about it. She would always tell new friends when she met them to just call her “Granny”, and many knew her as Granny. Shirley’s family and friends knew they were loved by Granny and if you were a friend, you were family.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Hounshell and husband Larry of Brownwood; son, Mike Fletcher and wife, Leslie of Brownwood; sisters, Barbra Blanton and Darleen Miller; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fletcher; father, Andrew Larkin Elliot; mother, Corine Mae Perkins; sisters, Juanita Gotcher & Dalphene Stephens; brothers, Kenneth and Andrew Elliott.
