Charlie James “Paw Paw” Thompson, age 81, of Brownwood, passed away Thursday May 6, 2021.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 15, 2021 at 12:00pm at Greater Faith Community Church.
Viewing will be held Friday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Brownwood Funeral Home.
Charlie was born on September 28, 1939 in Gause, TX to parents Pauline ‘Swain’ and Meron Thompson. The family later relocated to Brownwood, TX where Charlie called home. He met Robbie Dykes and married. From that union were two boys Charles and Glen and one girl Cecelia.
Charlie met his wife Beverly A. Robinson in Brownwood at Winchell’s Donut shop where she worked in 1976. They became fast friends while sharing their life experiences and expectations.
Charlie and Beverly married on June 14, 1985 in Abilene, TX at 6:00pm during the cool of the evening on the lawn of the Brides home. Charlie’s Brother Meron, stood with him as “Best Man” with his Brother-in- law, The Honorable Reverend Robert L. Williams, Pastor of Bethel Church of God in Christ in Abilene, TX presided over the marriage.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Pauline ‘Swain’ and Meron Thompson. Two brothers: Edward and Meron Jr. Two sons: Charles and Glen.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Beverly Robinson-Thompson of Brownwood, TX. Two daughter’s: Cecelia ‘Sis’ Nwankwo of Dallas TX., Donita Tsu ‘Sugar’ Matcovschi and son-in-law Radu Matcovschi of Lake Dallas, One son, Darren Guy ‘Chief’ Robinson, and 2nd daughter-in-Law Catherine Robinson of Pleasanton, TX and 1st daughter-in-law Michelle V. Robinson-Simmons of Abilene, TX. Three sisters: The Honorable First Lady Missionary Vera Williams of Austin, TX., Rosie Hamilton (spouse-Joe) of Dallas, TX, and Betty Johnson (spouse-Charles) of Texas City. Six brothers: Eugene Thompson (spouse-Phyllis), Samuel Thompson (spouse-Ruby), Ray Thompson (spouse-Irma), William Thompson, Jerry Thompson all of Dallas, TX , and Paul Thompson of Beaumont, TX. One great aunt; Theodora Brown of Houston, TX. Fifteen-Grandchildren: Can’da’ce, Ricky Jr., Dilli’on, Dallas, Tiffaney, Isaiah, Taylor, Kendra, Angela, Roderick, Anthony, Terrance, Tamasha, Leteia, and Tenejsha, and numerous Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed and all the nuggets of wisdom he shared with us.
