Donald Reginald “Reggy” Stover, 74, beloved husband, daddy and Poppy of Cross Plains, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Abilene, Texas.
The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, May 9 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 10 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with David Simmons officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blake Cemetery in Brown County, Texas.
Reggy was born March 17, 1947 in Gorman, Texas to the late Donald G. Stover and Doloras Pittman-Stover. Reggy went to school at May ISD and Cross Plains ISD. He graduated at Cross Plains High School in 1965 and attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He married his Jr. High Sweetheart and the love of his life Dianna Purvis on June 28, 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Cross Plains. They made their home farming and ranching near Cross Plains. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He never missed a basketball game, volleyball game, rodeo, stock show or dance recital. He loved vacationing with his family and would not want to come back to the work. He loved the cattle business and spent many hours in a sale barn. He loved sharing the gospel of Christ with everyone he met. Reggy will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Reggy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald G. Stover and Doloras Pittman-Stover; son, Regin Stover.
Reggy is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Dianne Stover of Cross Plains; daughter, Tonya Yeary and her husband, Toye of Weatherford; son, Brandon Stover and his wife, Kimberly of Poolville; granddaughters, Trista, TyAnn, Kashley; grandson, Tallon; sister, Vickie Strength and her husband, Donald of Cross Plains; sister-in-law, Linda Strength and husband, Charles of Cross Plains; numerous nieces and nephews.
