The Brownwood Lady Lions held a lead late in the softball game in Lampasas Tuesday night, but it was the Lady Badgers who battled back and beat Brownwood 5-4 in their last at bat.
Despite the loss, the Lady Lions (6-13-1, 2-4) can still secure their 17th straight trip to the playoffs with a win over Gatesville (6-17, 1-4) in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. home finale. A loss, and the Lady Hornets would jump Brownwood for fourth place in the 6-4A standings.
Lampasas (12-11, 3-3) now sits in sole possession of second place with its victory.
In other 6-4A softball action Tuesday, Glen Rose (18-3, 6-0) clinched the district title outright with a 11-1 triumph over Stephenville (9-13, 2-3).
