The Board of Directors for Citizens National Bank, Brownwood, has announced the appointment of J.D. Johnson as new Bank President. John P. Guest will continue to serve as the Chief Executive Officer.
J.D. Johnson moved from Falls County, Texas where he served as Community Bank President for BancorpSouth Bank. He brings over 12 years of commercial banking experience across several markets in Central Texas.
He graduated from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was drafted by the Chicago Whitesox. After one year of Junior College Baseball, he signed with the Chicago Whitesox Organization and played for three years in their Minor League System.
J.D. earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is a graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He has served on several boards throughout his banking career including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Falls County Boys and Girls Club, and the Board of Governors for the Association of the United States Army – Central Texas / Ft. Hood Chapter.
He is a proud husband to his wife, Annie, and father to Jobi and Jhett.
J.D. is excited to make Brown County his home and become involved in the community.
Jesse Mendoza, Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, is celebrating his second-year anniversary with Citizens National Bank.
He grew up in Clovis, New Mexico. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Eastern New Mexico University and is a graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Jesse has over 40 years of banking experience in Compliance, Loans, and Operations.
Since moving to Brownwood, he has become involved in the community. He currently serves as Treasurer for the Central Texas Veterans Memorial, Vice President for Kiwanis International, Treasurer of the Brownwood Country Club Golf Association and is a member of the Texas Association of Sports Officials Football Referee and past President of the Permian Basin Football Chapter. Jesse has been calling Texas High School Football for over 25 years.
Jesse is married to Angela Mendoza; they have 5 grown children and several grandchildren.

Sheila King, Supervisor of the Bookkeeping Department, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President.
She is a graduate from Brownwood High School.
Sheila began her career with CNB in 1997 working in the Data Processing Department. She was promoted to Bank Officer, Manager of Data Processing and Computer Operations, then to Assistant Cashier and now Assistant Vice President and Manager of Bookkeeping.
Her interests are watching her grandchildren at sporting events and church activities.
Sheila is married to Tony King; they have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.
Nancy Price, Supervisor of the Note Department, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President.
She graduated from Early High School and began her career in banking while still a student.
Nancy has 43 years of experience on the lending side of banking. She began her career with CNB in 1990 as a Loan Processor. Nancy was promoted to Bank Officer, then to Assistant Cashier and now Assistant Vice President and Manager of the Note Department.
Nancy has served on the Board of Directors for Brown County Fair Association, Brown County United Way, Brownwood Community Cultural Affairs Commission and Hochheim Prairie Insurance.
Her interests are deer hunting, travel, floating down the Frio River, and her two fur babies
Brenda Vernon, Supervisor of the New Accounts Department, has also been promoted to Assistant Vice President.
She graduated from Early High School and immediately started her career in banking. Brenda has 37 years of consumer banking experience in Teller, Customer Service, New Accounts, Assistant Branch Manager.
She began her career with CNB in 2006 as a New Accounts Representative. Brenda was promoted to Bank Officer, then to Assistant Cashier and now Assistant Vice President and Manager of New Accounts.
She served on the Board of Directors for Family Life Resources.
Her interests include reading and spending time with her nieces. She is also a fan of softball and baseball.
Brenda is married to Bennie Vernon and they have one daughter, Katie.
Amy Villarreal has been promoted to Bank Officer, Manager of the Drive-In Bank. She is a graduate of Brownwood High School and earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management from Howard Payne University.
While she was a student at Howard Payne University, she worked as a Teller in the CNB Drive In bank for two years. She left CNB upon graduation and returned two years later, working in Bookkeeping/Customer Service, then was promoted to Loan Assistant and now she is an Officer and Manager of our Drive-In Bank.
Amy is in the Brown County Young Professionals Program. She is a first generation Mexican-American. Her interests are reading, photography and she is a car enthusiast.
Citizens National Bank is Brownwood’s only home owned independent bank. Citizens’ roots go all the way back to 1883 to the mercantile store, “Coggin Brothers and Ford Bank” and later evolving into the Citizens National Bank.
