Professional golf returns to Brownwood April 14-17 as a field of 156 golfers play in the All Pro Tour at the Brownwood Country Club. The tournament benefits the Heart of Texas Children’s Advocacy Center.
“The APT Tour is a development tour. It’s like a Double A League for baseball. It’s professional golf. These guys are trying to make a living playing golf. They’re trying to get to the Korn Ferry Tour or to the PGA Tour,” said Mark England, golf pro at Brownwood Country Club. Among those scheduled to tee it up in Brownwood is Sam Fidone. “He just had a pretty good week at the Valero Texas Open,” England said.
The estimated purse is $130,000 with $20,000 going to the first place winner.
A Pro-Am will be played Tuesday with 25 teams made up of local golfers paired with pros. The event will consist of 72-holes of stroke play. The field will be cut after 36 holes to the top 35% of the starting field, including ties.
The public is invited to come out and watch some professional golf and support the Heart of Texas Children’s Advocacy Center.
