County Commissioners Leave Burn Ban in Place

Brown County Commissioners were in session Monday morning, March 15.

The Burn Ban was left in place since windy conditions are expected to continue this week and rain amounts were minimal over the weekend.

Commissioners also approved a one-year contract between Brown County and Buddy Preston.  Preston, who recently retired from the City of Brownwood as Fire Marshal, will be contracted to investigate fires which may occur in unincorporated areas of Brown County which is all fire investigations except in the towns of Brownwood, Bangs and Early.

The cost to the County will be $150 for the first hour and $50 for each subsequent hour needed to investigate the fire.

Commissioner Joel Kelton presided over the meeting in the absence of Judge Lilly. All Commissioners were present along with the County Attorney, County Clerk and County Auditor.
