Five Sentenced to Jail Time in District Court

According to District Attorney Micheal Murray, felony cases were recently heard in Brown/Mills County District Court with Judge Mike Smith, presiding.

Margaret Marie Harper, pled guilty to the felony offense of Intoxication Manslaughter with Deadly Weapon and was sentenced to Eighteen (18) years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division. Further, Harper, pled guilty to three separate counts of the felony offense of Intoxication Assault with Deadly Weapon and was sentenced to Ten (10) years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.  Harper was the drunk driver who drove into a front yard and hit four people, including two children, killing one of them, in late June of 2020.

David Blake Havens, pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Drug Free Zone and was sentenced to Seven (7) years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Aaron Jacob Inman, pled guilty to the felony offenses of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and Credit Card/Debit Card Abuse and was sentenced to Five (5) years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Elijah Ray Jones, pled guilty to the felony offense of Assault Family Violence-Occlusion and was sentenced to Four (4) years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Wyatt Thomas Hughes, pled guilty to two separate state jail felony offenses of Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse and Theft – Enhanced and was sentenced to Thirteen (13) months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
