Wilma Ailene Lancaster Boyd was born November 16,1922 to LaVernia (Howard) and Edward Lancaster. She moved from this world into heaven on February 4,2021 at the age of 98.

Wilma was a longtime member of Early First Baptist Church and a member of the Lydia-Jewell Ladies Sunday School Class. She would say in recent years that she was one of the oldest members of the church. Wilma spent her married life on a farm in Holder, Texas and it was there that she had the light of her life, her daughter Barbara June. In 1973, she bought a house in Early and navigated the world as a single lady in which she excelled. She was a shrewd cattle lady, including having wooden pens behind her house in Early for the young heifers.

Wilma worked for many years at Central Boot and Western Wear. She loved meeting new people at work and dressing up in all the western clothes. She had many colors of boots with matching western belts. Each July, you would find her in the first booth at the Brown County Rodeo waving at all the rodeo contestants in the grand entry, including her granddaughters.

Other than attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school activities, she enjoyed sewing and working in her yard. She won “yard of the month” several times.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Barbara Boyd-Stewart of Early; granddaughter Tammy Stewart Barr and husband Mike of Fredericksburg and their son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Jessica Barr of Dripping Springs; granddaughter Vannessa (Vann) Stewart of May and her children Beale- Madison, Vance-Cady and John-Stewart. One sister-in-law, Edna Lancaster and several nieces, nephews and cousins as the Lancaster’s are a large family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Ruth Gilbert, Tim Lancaster, Worth Lancaster, Rosalie Laughlin, Charlie Lancaster, Peggy Hagan and Nelda Jean Phillips.
