The Brownwood Lions boys wrapped up the first half of District 6-4A boys basketball action Tuesday night at Warren Gym with a crucial victory but the Lady Lions fell short in a game in Lampasas.
BOYS GAME
On the home court at Warren Gym, the Lions of Coach Nadir Dalleh upset No. 25 Lampasas 69-56 to improve to 2-2 in district, tied with Lampasas and Stephenville with identical records, all behind Glen Rose which remains undefeated at 4-0.
The Lions were able to overcome 22 turnovers and a 20 of 42 shooting performance from the free throw line as Bryson Monroe led the Lions with 20 points followed by 19 from Christian Kinzler, 11 from Jakob Hataway, nine from Zach Porter, six from Michael Felts and two points apiece from Nathan Wheelington and Luke Moss.
GIRLS GAME
The Brownwood Lady Lions fell into a tie for fourth place in the District 6-4A girls basketball standings with Lampasas following the Lady Badgers’ 62-40 triumph Tuesday night in Lampasas.
Alexa Arreola finished with 12 points for the Lady Lions – who defeated Lampasas at home, 57-52, on Jan. 8 – followed by Kynslee Walker with 11, Jaylen Savage with seven, Brooke Price with five, Mady Pyle and Lindsey Larose with two points each and Lexi Greer with one.
