Federico “Fred” Ruiz, Jr., age 75 of Brady, Texas passed away Sunday morning, January 17, 2021 at his home in Brady, Texas. Fred was born May 3, 1945 in Beeville, Texas to Federico Ruiz, Sr. and Francisca (Contreras) Ruiz. He married Irma Hernandez on July 14, 1964 in Beeville, Texas. Fred was a custodian by trade and worked at the Brady National Bank for many years and also worked for Commercial National Bank for many years. He enjoyed working on classic old cars and trucks. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He has lived in Brady for over 55 years. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Fred Ruiz will be held at Wednesday, January 20, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady with Father Terry Brenen officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Fred Ruiz will lie in state Tuesday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Federico “Fred” Ruiz is survived by his sons Raul Ruiz and wife Teresa of Ft. Worth, TX and Robert Ruiz and his partner Mark Campbell of Dallas, TX; daughters Diana Martinez and husband Dore of Brownwood, TX, Sandra Solis and husband Eddie of Brady, TX, Mary Helen Ruiz of Kentucky, Irene Ruiz Duus and husband Robert of Brady, TX and Sally Davidson and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, TX; brother Robert Ruiz and wife Sulema of Brady, TX; sisters Mary Ramon and husband Manuel of Beeville and Elfida Garcia of Beeville, TX; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irma, son Joe Richard Ruiz, brother Richard Ruiz and grandsons Christopher Ruiz and Jacob Solis.
