Brown County Sheriff’s Report

The following calls for service were answered by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department between December 4 and December 7.

On December 4, at approximately 20:29 hours,  Deputy Nicolas A. Wood and Sgt. Taylor  Fletcher performed a traffic stop on a silver  Chevrolet pickup in the 8000 block of CR 603.  A consent to search was obtained and 27 grams  of methamphetamine was seized. The passenger was arrested for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1 4-200 grams and Tampering with Evidence.

On December 5, Deputy Andre Smoot located an abandoned vehicle which had been red tagged for removal earlier in the week. The location was the 15000 Block of Farm to Market Road 45.  Dispatch contacted a local towing company to take possession of the vehicle.

On Saturday, December 5, at about 14:25 hours, Brown County Deputies and Texas State Troopers responded to an assault which had just occurred on Belfast Drive. Responding officers were advised the suspect was still in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Simpson spoke with a male victim who advised he was assaulted and strangled by an unknown white male who was later identified. The victim also stated the subject had also thrown a baseball bat at him. Deputies attempted to locate the suspect without success. A report was made for Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon.

On December 5, at approximately 19:31 hours, Deputy Nicolas Wood responded to County Road 603 in reference to a domestic disturbance in which the victim’s daughter assaulted him and prevented him from placing an emergency call. A report was made.

On December 6, Deputy Andre Smoot responded to a domestic call on County Road 608. Once on scene it was discovered one half of the party left. Deputy Smoot completed an investigation and the parties had already separated. No criminal offense had occurred and neither party wanted to press charges. The male half refused to cooperate with taking photographs. An information report was completed as per state law regarding law enforcement responding to family violence calls.

On Sunday, December 6, at 08:00 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to Belle Plain in Brownwood in regards to a possible accident. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Simpson located damage on the southwest corner of a building. He later did a report on the accident after contact was made with the property owner.

Deputy Mike Sheedy responded to N. Highway 279 on December 6 at approximately 18:00 hours in regards to a possible burglary of a building. Information was gathered at the scene and a report was completed for the offense of Criminal Trespass.

On December 7, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a Welfare Check on Highway 183 in Early. The complainant advised his girlfriend was make suicidal comments to him, by phone. After further investigation, the girlfriend was located and advised she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. A report was made.

On Monday, December 7, at approximately 13:27, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to Highway 183 North in Early in reference to stolen items.
