Area football teams will be on the gridiron tonight, several trying to keep their district records unblemished while others are trying to make the playoffs.
Bangs (6-0, 2-0) at Sonora (3-4, 2-0) (Broadcast KBWD 1380 and KOXE App)
At 7 p.m. Friday, the Bangs Dragons (6-0, 2-0) visit the Sonora Broncos (3-4, 2-0) in a battle between two of the three district tri-leaders. Bangs travels to Ballinger – the other district tri-leader – next week as the toughest portion of the schedule has arrived. Sonora is averaging 21 points and 238 yards – 207 rushing and 21 passing – per outing.
Coleman (6-1, 2-0) at Cisco (4-3, 2-0)
7 p.m. Friday (Broadcast on KOXE.com with pre-game at 6:45 pm.)
Coleman has defeated Goldthwaite (28-7) and De Leon (35-0) in league play, while Cisco’s district wins have come against Winters (28-14) and De Leon (48-6).
Early (4-3, 1-1) Hosts Clyde (3-4, 2-0)
The Longhorns (4-3, 1-1) host the Clyde Bulldogs (3-4, 2-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a pivotal District 3-3A Division I encounter.
Early knocked off Breckenridge, 21-0, last week, securing one of the two victories required to secure a playoff berth from 3-3A Division I. After Friday night’s game, the Longhorns also have a home game with San Angelo TLCA (0-7, 0-2) and a road trip to Wall (4-3, 1-1) left on the schedule. Clyde did not play last week as San Angelo TLCA was forced to forfeit to due COVID. The Bulldogs opened district play Oct. 9 against Breckenridge, tallying a 38-21 victory.
