Eddie John Dees, Sr., age 88, of Coleman, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at his residence.  Due to CoVID19 there will be no memorial service at this time.  Mr. Dees’ wishes were to be cremated and his family is honoring that request.  Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

Eddie John Dees, Sr. was born September 2, 1932, in Duncan, Oklahoma, a son of Doyce B. Dees and Lila Conn Dees.  He grew up in Fort Worth where he also attended school and graduated from Paschal High School.  He attended and graduated from North Texas State University (U.N.T) in Fort Worth with a Bachelor of Music degree.   In 1952 he married Jatis Perryman in Shreveport, Louisiana and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2018.  Following graduation from college, he began a long career as an educator and school counselor.  He lived in Porter, Texas for many years and moved to Santa Anna in 2012 and then to Coleman.  As a young man, he played in a jazz band.  He was a gifted pianist.  Following his retirement as an educator, he enjoyed fixing things and construction projects.

He is survived by his three children, Lynne Dees and husband William R. Crawford of Bedford, Layle Dees of Coleman and Eddie John Dees, Jr. of Coleman; one grandson, Joshua Shane Dees of Fort Worth; one sister, Judith Ann Lieberman and husband Joseph of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Jan Henderson of Spring.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brothers, Doyce Dees and Barry Neil Dees.
