Brown County Judge Dr. Paul Lilly continues to recover after undergoing quadruple bypass surgery.
According to information from Judge Lilly released by County Emergency Management Coordinator Darrell Johnston, Judge Lilly drove himself to Brownwood Regional Medical Center on September 16 with chest pains. He was flown on September 17 to Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth and underwent heart surgery on Monday, September 21. Judge Lilly is is currently convalescing and will be out of the courthouse a few weeks, though he is in contact with his office staff almost daily, Johnston said.
In his absence, Precinct 2 County Commissioner Joel Kelton will preside over County Commission meetings. County Court at Law Judge Sam Moss will preside over any judicial matters until Judge Lilly returns.
