Tuesday just “felt” stormy. The heat. The humidity. Storm clouds built at mid-afternoon and brought an initial round of rain but it was the late evening and early night storms that struck with gusto.
Very heavy rain, street flooding, wind damage and numerous power outages were reported in Brownwood, Early and Lake Brownwood. As of 9:00 pm at least a dozen outages were being reported in and around Brownwood and Early, according to the Oncor outage map (shown in photo).
At 8:16 pm, the San Angelo National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for Central Brown County as strong rotation was indicated in a thunderstorm over the community of Early. The storm moved eastward along Highway 67 toward Blanket. The tornado warning was then cancelled at 8:42 pm.
