The Texas A&M Forest Service joined several area volunteer fire departments Tuesday evening on the Smith Fire, county road 531 in Mills County, near Goldthwaite.  As of Tuesday night at 10:45 pm, the fire was an estimated 1,000 acres and was said to be 50% contained.

There were also two smaller fires, the Gate 3 in Mills County which burned 5 acres and is 100% contained.  The Gate 8 in Brown County had burned 15 acres at last report.

In Coleman County, the All Hands Fire near Valera was 100% contained last night after burning 619 acres.

The Brownwood Fire Department responded to a call of a car fire Tuesday evening near the intersection of Avenue C and 21st Street (shown in the photo).
