The North American Retail Hardware Association has announced their 2020 Young Retailer of the Year honorees and among the group of seven is Weston Jacobs of Weakley-Watson Hardware in Brownwood.  The honorees are under the age of 35 and operate hardware stores across North America.

“I’m just so thankful to this community.  I won this award because of this community and because of what was laid before me, 144 years of service from, not this building, but from this store, from this entity.  I stepped into shoes that were pretty immense to fill.  That’s been the greatest thing to happen to me is having such a legacy to try to fulfill.  The only reason I got this award is because people around here are so good to me,” Weston said.

Weston was notified that he had received the award about two months ago and was supposed to receive the award during a convention in Las Vegas.  “Covid had other plans but I think they’ve rearranged everything. I think we get to go in August.  They have a big national hardware show we get to go to and be a part of and that will be a pretty cool deal,” Weston said.
