Demo Underway of Former Skillet’s Restaurant / Freestanding Chick-fil-A Coming This Fall

Skillet’s family style café served the people of Central Texas for over 30 years.  But, the restaurant many people enjoyed, especially for breakfast, is coming down.  Demolition began late Wednesday afternoon at the 500 E. Commerce location to make room for a freestanding Chick-fil-A Restaurant.

According to our news file, it was at a meeting February 18 of this year of the Brownwood Municipal Development District Board that they approved a development and infrastructure incentive not to exceed $100,000, plus fill dirt according to the flood permit, to Lisciotti Development, based in Boston.

According to Ray Tipton, Executive Director of the Brownwood Municipal Development District, Lisciotti is a preferred developer for Chick-fil-A.  They are doing several projects in Texas.  They hope to move quickly, weather permitting, Tipton said, with plans to have the restaurant up and running by this coming Fall.
