A friendly crowd of supporters gathered Tuesday at the Brownwood Country Club where Dr. Glenn Rogers received an endorsement from U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway. Rogers is running against three other candidates to represent Brown County and several other counties from Coleman to Granbury in the Texas House of Representatives.
Brownwood Mayor, Stephen Haynes, introduced U.S. Representative Mike Conaway (R) District 11. Conaway said his endorsement for Rogers is based on proven leadership. “He’s had good experience as a small businessman running a vet clinic and also working as an educator and in the corporate world,” Conaway said. He pointed out that Rogers rose to the top as president of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and he believes Rogers will take that talent and skill set to Austin to work with the 149 other members of the Texas House and work his way into a leadership role there.
After being introduced by Congressman Conaway, Dr. Rogers spoke for a few minutes and asked the crowd for their vote on the first day of early voting. Rogers said he encourages everyone to get and vote. “I would encourage you to really study the candidates, look at our leadership experiences, look at our bios and really study who we are and then make the decision. This race will be over March 3rd, that’s the primary. There is no Democrat in the race so don’t wait to vote in November. You need to vote now,” Rogers said.
“We’re thrilled to have Congressman Conaway’s endorsement. He has done an excellent job as a U.S. Congressman, he was the Chair of the House Ag Committee. He has been a very influential Congressman and has represented his district very well,” Rogers said.
