Gusty north wind and extremely dry conditions combined for a large grass fire Tuesday night on range land in northwest Coleman County.  Numerous Coleman and Taylor County fire departments battled the fire not far from the town of Novice.

According to the Coleman Fire Department, the fire was secured late last night.  Texas Forest Service dozers were assisting with building a containment line around the fire. Current estimates have the fire at just over 200 acres.
