A man who grew up in the Talpa area of western Coleman County, and who died 77 years ago at Pearl Harbor on the battleship USS Oklahoma, is coming home to his final resting place Saturday in Winters, Texas.  Hale McKissack was a U.S. Navy sailor killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor.  McKissack’s remains were identified through DNA testing.

The Patriot Guard will escort his remains from Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger to the Fairview Cemetery at Winters.    The escort begins at 1 pm.  The graveside funeral service will begin at 2 pm Saturday, May 4, at Fairview Cemetery.  The public is invited to pay their respects.
