The Brownwood Planning and Zoning Commission met for one hour Thursday afternoon at City Hall.
The majority of the hour was spent considering any changes to the Zoning Code regarding keeping poultry in the City Limits of Brownwood. There was no one in attendance to speak during the Public Hearing.
The P & Z Board members gave individual input to city staff to come up with a new proposed ordinance to address chickens in the city limits. Among the suggestions.
- Allowing up to 8 chickens in all zoning classifications
- Restricting those to back yards
- Not allowing Roosters at all
- An ordinance that would address pens being kept in sanitary condition, pen size and type
The P&Z tabled the issue for now. City staff will work on the new proposed guidelines and bring back to the Board for further consideration.
Planning and Zoning also approved two plats in the Lions Den Subdivision.
