Joe Burkett’s small 400 square foot wood frame home was tossed upside down and torn apart alongside highway 183, right across the street from the Baptist church. Joe hid under his bed when the wind got loud but ended up under his sofa in the rubble of his home. Amazingly, he was not injured.
Oncor was beginning repairs Wednesday morning to numerous downed power lines in Zephyr, a task they say may take much of the day to complete. More than 170 customers were without electricity, according to the Oncor website.
There was other damage to roofs throughout town and the brick façade of an old historic building came crashing down.
