Kimberly Thweatt VanPelt

Kimberly Thweatt VanPelt, 60, of Coleman, died March 7, 2019, in the Coleman County Medical Center. Visitation will be held March 9, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, located at 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., March 10, with Bro. Don Harmes, pastor of Community Baptist Church officiating and will be assisted by Rev. Jim Kitchens, pastor of Gouldbusk United Methodist Church. Eulogy will be given by Bob Turner, lifelong friend of the family. Burial will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Kimberly Thweatt March 23, 1958, in Andrews, Texas, the only daughter of Jim Bob Thweatt and Bobbye Monsey Thweatt. She grew up in Coleman County in the Gouldbusk area and attended school at Mozelle, graduating from high school there in 1976. She attended a commercial college in Abilene for a short while but was sad and homesick and decided to go home. On June 5, 1982, she married Frank VanPelt at her parent’s home at Red Bank, Coleman County.

She worked at Panther Creek ISD from 1995 to 2008 in the Elementary School office. After her children all graduated from Panther Creek, she worked for a while for the Brownwood Regional Medical Center and Midland Memorial Hospital as an insurance claims processor. About three years ago, she went to work for the Coleman ISD, where she worked as an administrative assistant at Coleman High School. Kim was a person who was always happy. She took great care of her husband and children and delighted in her grandchildren. She will be greatly and sadly missed by her family as well as her church family at Gouldbusk United Methodist Church. She was also well-loved on the campus at Coleman High School. For the past few years, she had been taking piano lessons, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She is survived by husband, Frank VanPelt of Coleman; four children, Lindsay McEachern and husband John of San Angelo, Clayton VanPelt and wife Durinda of Ballinger, Jayton VanPelt and wife Jennifer of San Angelo, Guy VanPelt and fiancée Jessica of Rowena; two step-daughters, Donna Landers and husband Gary of Oplin, Brandi Barnett and husband Danny of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rusty Thweatt and wife Judith of San Angelo, Davey Thweatt and wife Lorri of Coleman County; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Mark Thweatt.
