Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y dive back into the pocket on “From The Start.”

If you need evidence that Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y‘s boogie formula was still intact, look no further than “From The Start” off their retrofitted comeback album 2009. Day one fans of this time-tested duo will sense their heart skipping a beat when they hear Wiz calling out “Jet Life, Taylor Gang” like ever before.

There’s a lot to love about the whole project, excluding the incessant “lamb talk” which I gather still holds some relevance to hobbyists the World over. But where Wiz & Curren$y really strike a perfect balance is on the groovier songs in their catalog. That’s where “From The Start” plays into the hands of a resourceful Curren$y with all the room to diddle daddle like ever before.

It’s as if every line break is Curren$y’s last gasp for air – the sustained groove on “From The Start” becomes their sustenance. Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y embarked on their 2009 tour this Friday in Seattle. Check out the full album if you haven’t already, and hit us with your thoughts when you do.
