Brown County municipalities see jump in sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $861.8 million in local sales tax allocations for May, 9.4 percent more than in May 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

Sales tax allocations have been released to Brown County Municipalities. Bangs received a monthly payment of $15,577, a 2.06% decrease over this same time period last year of $15,906. Year to date, Bangs has received $62,523, a 3.52% increase over last year’s total of $60,393. Blanket received a monthly allocation of $3,024, a 30.61% increase over last year’s payment during this same period of $2,315. Year to date, Blanket has received $11,544, a 17.37% increase over last year of $9,835. Brownwood saw a huge jump with an allocation of $555,070, a 28.67% increase over this same period last year of $431,379. Year to date, Brownwood has received $2,275,162, a near 10% increase over last year’s total of $2,068,519. The City of Early received $103,071, a 12.59% increase over last year during this same time period. Year to date, Early has received $435,694, an 11.21% decrease over last year’s total payments of $490,720.
