Gladys Marie Bryant, 54, a former employee of Brownwood Independent School District has been arrested in connection with several stolen computers that were reported missing several months ago. In early December 2017, Brownwood ISD discovered several student computers were missing. The BISD technology department activated the tracking software on the computers and notified the Brownwood Police Department.
Through the work of the Brownwood PD and the Brownwood ISD Technology Department, the computers were located on January 12 of this year. Because of statements made to the police during the investigation, Bryant was immediately terminated.
According to Brownwood Assistant Police Chief James Fuller, Bryant was cooperative during the investigation. Subsequent to the interviews, 9 of the 10 laptops were recovered. Following a convening of the Brown County Grand Jury on April 25, a warrant was issued for Bryant’s arrest. Bryant was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of theft of property and released on a $10,000 bond. Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the Brownwood Police Department.
Once again, Bryant is not a current employee of the Brownwood Independent School District.
