At next week’s meeting of the Brownwood City Council, an agenda item will see the council considering the ratification of the Brownwood Municipal Development District’s sale of the old Main Fire Station property at 807 Main Street using a sealed bid process for a minimum of $290,000 along with the associated asbestos remediation and demolition of the building at an estimated cost of $60,000. Again, this property will have to go through a sealed bid process upon approval, with the specifications requiring the construction of a $950,000 – 1,640 square foot fast food restaurant with at least 40 parking spaces, a drive through lane, and provides employment for 20 employees with an average annual salary of $20,000.
