Grace Lutheran quilters donate to the ARK

The Grace Lutheran Church Quilting Guild brought their annual gift of 25 hand-made quilts to The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter (The ARK) this week.  The quilts are worked on throughout the year and represent hours and hours of dedication and hard work.  Each quilt is unique and special, and they are given directly to ARK Domestic Violence Shelter residents to take with them when they leave. With the fall and winter approaching, the quilts are a very welcome gift.

There are six members of the Grace Lutheran Church Quilting Guild, which include Diane McCrory, Margaret Lane, Elaine Herklotz, Lynda Wende, Maylene Hilbun and Leona Baldwin. The ladies work all year long on both twin size and queen size quilts.  The twin size quilts are made from bright, kid-friendly prints.

“We appreciate these ladies so much!” said executive director Terri Densman. “There’s so much work that goes into these quilts, and they are dearly loved by the residents, especially the children.”

The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter (The ARK) provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their families from three counties; Brown, Coleman and Comanche.
