Commissioners approve sale of fireworks in April

By Rick Phelps

The Brown County Commissioners unanimously approved Monday morning for the sale of fireworks during the San Jacinto Day period, from April 14 -21. With the earlier repeal of the burn ban, the commissioners felt comfortable to allow the sale of the fireworks. The county commissioners are the sole deciding authority as it relates to the dates and times fireworks may be sold.

In other business, the court:

  • Unanimously lifted the burn ban
  • Approved an interlocal agreement between the county and the City of Brady and Brady ISD as it relates to elections
  • Approved the purchase of a commercial grade lawnmower for the law enforcement center
  • Approved a 45 MPH speed limit on County Road 225
  • Approved the county’s portion of a payment to legislative liaison Bob Turner for the next legislative session
  • Approved a policy prohibiting business solicitation in the courthouse
