Several agencies responded to a portion of Hwy 377 South Wednesday evening after a collision between a truck and an 18-wheeler transporting a silo. Two occupants of the smaller vehicle required immediate medical treatment, with one being flown from the scene and the other transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. The 18-wheeler driver was said to have been uninjured.
DPS officials have stated the 18-wheeler transporting the silo was traveling south on 377, while the smaller vehicle was traveling north. Despite attempts from the 18-wheeler driver to move the wide-load on a narrow strip of road, the two vehicles collided, with the smaller vehicle also striking a second truck. The smaller truck crashed through a fence before coming to a stop in a field. The accident forced a halt to travel for nearly an hour while debris was removed.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
