Tips being sought in sexual assault of Brownwood woman

In a new segment that will run on air on Thursdays, and presented here, I will be presenting the Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers Weekly HOT Spot. This will be a spotlight on a crime that has been committed that is currently under investigation by one of the law enforcement agencies in the tri-county coverage area of the Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers—Brown, Mills and Coleman.

On April 23 of this year, officers with the Brownwood Police Department responded to the 1800 block of 9th St. in reference to the sexual assault of a 20-year-old female. Upon arrival, officers learned the female was asleep in her home at about 1:30 am, when three men forced open the front door of her residence. While one man stood watch at or near the front door, another was rummaging through the home. A third man pulled the young woman from her bed and sexually assaulted her, while displaying a weapon. The Criminal Investigation Division responded.

The victim described the men as follows:
1) A black male who was tall and skinny, wearing a blue hoodie type sweat shirt
2) A Hispanic male with sleeve type tattoos with a bandana around his face
3) A black male who was shorter and heavy.

The property taken from the home was listed as:
1) Black and gold Purse
2) Cash
3) Cell Phone
4) Keys with an Oakley keychain
A witness saw a black or dark maroon four-door sedan in the neighborhood just after the assault.
