The Heart of Texas Cyclists, a Brownwood-based bicycling club, is holding a bike tour in conjunction with the Bangs Flamin’ BBQ Cookoff and Red Hot Trade Days. The event will be Saturday, July 30 at the Bangs Community Events Center.
The tours will feature distance options of 35 km, 60 km, and 100 km. Top three finishers in each route distance will receive awards, with the 100K top finisher taking home a trophy. Special awards are also being given for King and Queen of the Mountain, a title earned for the first male and female to the top of the hill just outside of Brookesmith.
All registered riders will receive a t-shirt along with a free fish fry lunch after the ride. Showers and massages will also be available post-ride for registered riders. The Bike Peddler will have a free maintenance station set up for riders who need minor repairs before the ride kicks off at 8 a.m.
All proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund set up for Bangs High School students. Interested riders can pre-register online now until July 1 by visiting www.hotbikeride.com and clicking on the “registration” link or visit a local bicycle shop for a registration form.
