Hobby Lobby opening sees Early gain a fifty-percent jump in sales tax allocations

The opening of Hobby Lobby helped Early experience a huge jump in sales tax allocations distributed by Texas Comptroller Glen Hegar. September allocations are a reflection of July sales. For the month of September, Early received an allocation of $114,758, a 47.77% increase over the September 2017 total of $77,657. Year to date, Early has received $859,359, a 5.21% increase over this same time period last year.

The City of Brownwood received $410,144, a 7.88% decrease over this period last year of $445,248. Year to date, Brownwood has received a little more than $4 million, a 6.75% increase over this same time period one year ago of $3.7 million.

The September allocation for Bangs was $10,430, a 22.60% decrease over this same period a year ago of $13,478. Year to date, Bangs has seen a slight decrease. $109,130 has been received up to this point in 2018, while $109,360 was received up to this point in 2017. This is a .21% decrease.

Blanket, who typically sees increases, saw the biggest decrease this month. Blanket received $1,950, a 39.17% decrease over last year’s collection during this same period of $3,206. Year to date, Blanket is still positive, having received $20,187, a 9.29% increase over the 2017 total up to this point of $18,469.
