EPD deals with sex offender, teens acting sketchy around a beer truck

The last three days have kept Early Police Department officers busy. Officers responded to the 100 block of Chaparral regarding a known sex offender walking around. Officers made contact with the subject for a field interview. In other incidents:
• Officer conducted a welfare check at a convenient store. The store was locked but an employee’s vehicle was in the parking lot during business hours. The employee was located. Computers were down and the store was unable to serve customers.
• Assisted a motorist who broke down in the 400 block of Garmon.
• Responded to the 300 block of East Commerce. A juvenile was getting beat up. Other juveniles were running toward Early.
• Juvenile issue in the 300 block of Lucas. Officer spoke with parents about options on how to deal with the situation.
• A suicide attempt in the 1300 block of Virginia.
• Civil matter in the 900 block of Early Blvd. Complainants claimed the motel charged them for a pet they didn’t have.
• Driver arrested for DWI after driving in the wrong lane.
• Suspicious activity in the 100 block of Industrial Drive. A truck driver unloading beer saw juveniles near the building and believed they were attempting to steal beer. The teens were gone up an officer’s arrival.
• Officers reported to the 300 block of Early Blvd. in reference to child abuse. The callers stated a subject was hitting a child and threw the child in the vehicle while leaving the movie theater.
