The information received also indicated Coppic was in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine for distribution. As officers began to trail Coppic, he failed to pull over, despite emergency lighting being activated. Due to Coppic heading into Brownwood city limits, driving reckless and for public safety concerns, Sheriff Vance Hill told deputies to discontinue the pursuit. After the discontinuation, Early Police Officers began to pursue Coppic.

Coppic drove through a yard in Early onto Garmon Dr. then continued to drive southeast on Hwy 84/183, then turned onto CR 270 to CR 294. A DPS Trooper deployed spike strips on CR 294 before FM 1467. After a few more turns, Coppic lost control of the truck and crashed into a trailer. Coppic was arrested for evading arrest.

According to the report, approximately 10 law enforcement vehicles were involved in the pursuit. The owner of the truck arrived on scene and said Coppic did not have permission to use the vehicle. Coppic was also arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for the pardons and parole warrant.
After looking at Coppic’s previous arrests, it was discovered that Coppic was convicted of evading arrest in Eastland County in December 2015. Coppic was also charged with evading arrest with a vehicle-previous conviction.

Coppic is no stranger to law enforcement. Previous arrests include possession of narcotics with intent to deliver, several marijuana possession charges, forgery, theft, money laundering, assault and criminal mischief.
