Brownwood ISD honors school board members

January is School Board Recognition Month and Brownwood ISD (BISD) will join other districts across the state to thank these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools. As elected officials, they are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of Texas schoolchildren.

“In a climate of change and challenge, the Brownwood community has chosen Board members they trust to develop policies and make tough decisions on complex social and educational issues. We are making a special effort in January to show appreciation to our Board members, but their many contributions reflect a year-round, unpaid commitment,” said BISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young. “Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference for what makes Brownwood ISD most proud: its students.”

Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, this Board is responsible for an annual budget of $33.8 million, 3700 students, 505 employees, and 8 campuses. “Please take a moment to tell our members ‘thank you’ for giving so much to our Brownwood students and staff,” stated Dr. Young.
