Brownwood Intermediate School (BIS) 5th grade Student Council members recently participated in the “Healthy Helpers” program, coordinated by the district’s School Nutrition Department.
“We had a great time talking about healthy breakfast choices and making parfaits,” said BIS Coach, Stefenia Phipps. “The Student Council members will take the information they learned and present it to their classes.”
“This lesson is perfect timing for highlighting the importance of having healthy hearts as we celebrate ‘GO RED’ in February, which is Heart Disease Awareness Month,” noted Phipps. “Thank you to Mrs. Garlene for teaching the lesson.”
