The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Brownwood Driver License Office, located at 1516 Market Place Blvd. will be closed Aug. 21-25, for repairs and maintenance to the public areas of the building. The office is expected to reopen to the public (at 8 a.m.) on Monday, Aug. 28.

If customers need to visit an office during this time, they are encouraged to visit the Comanche Driver License Office (located at 211 S. Austin); the Coleman Driver License Office (located at 112 N. Concho – open Monday, Thursday and Friday); or the Ballinger Driver License Office (located at 602 Strong – Runnels County Court Annex Building – open Tuesday and Wednesday).

Many Texans are eligible to skip the trip to a driver license office altogether and instead take advantage of online services for driver license/ID card renewals, duplicates or address changes by visiting Texas.gov. Customers can also renew by phone at 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same. The fee is the same for online, in-person and telephone renewals.
